Three-time Oscar-nominated director Agnieszka Holland scores points again with her new film, Green Border. It was presented at the prestigious Venice Film Festival in August, where it competed for the Golden Lion award. Psychologist Julia becomes an involuntary witness to dramatic events on the Polish-Belarusian border. She gives up her comfortable life and joins a group of activists who provide refugees with the necessary assistance. A meeting with a young border guard Jan and a Syrian family fleeing the civil war triggers a series of events that will change the lives of everyone involved. According to the director, the fictional story is inspired by real ‘European’ events that are happening right next to us.
