Fifteen-year-old Enrique lives with his grandmother in the remote Slovak village of Utekáč. He spends the long summer days with his friends, yet the picturesque landscape often feels lonely. His mother is mostly absent from his life—until one day she comes to visit, and young Eňo begins to sense that something isn’t right… The feature debut of Katarína Gramatová premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival. In preparation, the director moved for a full year into the so-called “hungry valley", a village marked by high unemployment. The result is a deeply authentic film, further enhanced by casting local non-professional actors.
