How does tenderness arise in an environment where nothing exists but violence? Jakob and Boris work at a slaughterhouse. Every day, they witness the exploitation of both animals and employees. Yet a close bond forms between them. But can it withstand these inhumane conditions? Nine years after the premiere of On Body and Soul (2017), a new slaughterhouse romance arrives—this time even more sensual. Simon Schneckenburger’s graduation film from the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg was screened at KVIFF in the Future Frames section. The director had already drawn attention with his short film, Borzaya (2021), which made it to the shortlist for the Student Oscar.
