Fifteen-year-old Mara no longer wants to live in the village. She would much rather become a pilot and be free. However, according to her pedantic father, she must continue with the family tradition. The moment the entire village is forcibly evicted to make way for the construction of a water reservoir, both lose their home and their dreams. They only have each other. Is that enough? This historical drama set in a Rusyn village is based on true events that took place in eastern Slovakia during the 1980s. Director Martin Gonda shot his feature debut with Rusyn actors and in the Rusyn language. The film premiered at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Argentina, where it won the SIGNIS Award for Best Film.
