1980s Czechoslovakia. The state decides who is allowed to have a child. Romani women are subjected to forced sterilization. Ingrid (Aňa Geislerová), a doctor, has never spoken out against the established rules - she was just doing her job. However, when she comes face to face with the consequences of this unjust system herself, something inside her begins to break. The film was directed by acclaimed filmmaker, Ivan Ostrochovský—director of Servants (2020), screenwriter of 107 Mothers (2021), and producer of Arved (2022)—whose work has been featured at prestigious festivals in Berlin and Venice. In his latest film, he opens a painful chapter of history that remains unresolved to this day. Only Beautiful Things to Look At premiered at KVIFF, where it also won the FIPRESCI International Film Critics Award.
