The Białowieża Forest is the oldest forest in Europe. It lies on the border of Poland and Belarus, which is surrounded by the Polish-Belarusian barrier. Somewhere within it lives a family of five who have chosen to separate themselves from civilization. They live in harmony with nature, relying only on themselves. But even in this innocent nature, reality catches up with them when refugees begin to flow past their home, unable to cross the border. Should the family help them and risk everything they have built? Or should they turn a blind eye? The Czech-Polish documentary, The Forest, directed by Lidia Duda had its world premiere at Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival.
